who it's for

For young people who need school to look different.

Autistic young people, usually aged 11 to 16, who are educated otherwise than at school. Many are recovering from burnout or a hard time in school, and need someone who gets it.

Mentoring sits alongside the rest of their EOTAS package. It's one steady thread through the week, never the whole of their education.

what sessions cover

Led by their interests. Built around what matters.

Re-engagement

Starting from what your child already loves, and building from there.

Regulation and wellbeing

Understanding what helps them feel settled, and what drains them.

Independence and life skills

The practical, everyday stuff that builds real confidence.

Self-understanding and self-advocacy

Making sense of being autistic, and learning to ask for what they need.

Next steps

College, training, work, or simply what comes after this term.

Reporting you can use

Session notes, a termly progress report against the EHCP, and a written contribution to every annual review.

our own programme

Built around The Autism Navigator.

Our mentoring isn't made up as we go along. Sessions are built around The Autism Navigator, a structured programme created by The Autism Mentors to help autistic people understand themselves, their strengths and what helps them.

Your child's mentor uses it to give sessions a clear direction, while still following your child's interests and pace. Your child also gets their own access, included in the price, so they can come back to it between sessions if they'd like to.

  • A clear structure behind every session, not just a chat
  • Progress you can see, which feeds straight into termly reports and annual reviews
  • Designed by autism specialists, and used by our mentors every day

how it works

Gentle to start. Steady once it's going.

  1. 1

    Free 20-minute call

We talk about your child, the package and what you're hoping for.

  2. 2

    Getting to know them

The first sessions are short and low-pressure. Camera off is fine. Typing instead of talking is fine.

  3. 3

    Regular sessions

Usually two or three a week, an hour to an hour and a half each, in the daytime. Around 3 to 6 hours a week in total.

  4. 4

    Reporting

Session notes, a termly progress report against the EHCP outcomes, and a written contribution to every annual review.

harder days

Some days are harder than others. That's fine.

If your child can't face a full session, we'll offer a short check-in or a message instead, so the connection isn't lost. Sessions cancelled with 48 hours' notice aren't charged.

keeping it safe online

Safe by design.

  • Sessions only run through TAM accounts, never personal ones
  • A parent or carer is at home during every session
  • No private contact between mentors and young people outside sessions
  • Every mentor has an enhanced DBS check, and we have a named Designated Safeguarding Lead

£70 an hour, with reporting included.

Three hours a week is £210 a week, or £8,190 across a 39-week school year. Many families have it funded through the EHCP or a personal budget.
